A middle age mother of three, Mrs Jumai Ibrahim has urged a Lokoja Upper Area Court, Kogi State to dissolve her 10-year-old marriage alleging that her husband, Murtala Mohammed, was indulging in extra-marital affairs. Jumai who is a Marketing Officer with a Federal media organisation in Kogi State also urged the court to grant her custody of their three children upon the dissolution of the marriage.

While testifying before the court yesterday she stated that she and her estranged husband dated for nine years before tying the nuptial knot in 2003 adding that they started quarrelling barely a month after the marriage.

Jumai pointed that her husband started dating her bosom friend and co-worker, one Hauwa Abu, who is now married adding that she once cut them red-handed in her matrimonial bed.

She claimed that the three children from the marriage presently living with their father since she left him are not living well as he was “feeding them with junk food” adding that one of them recently fell ill and was hospitalised.

The estranged husband, Murtala, in his defence had said that he loved his wife dearly adding however, that his alleged affair with Hauwa was a figment of his wife’s imagination in her quest to give the dog a bad name to hang it.

He said Hauwa was his wife’s bosom friend and co-worker whom she brought to live with them when she (Hauwa) had accommodation problem. He added that Jumai left all her domestic chores for Hauwa when she stepped into the house and he frowned at the development, giving rise to her insinuating that he was in love with Hauwa.
