The General Overseer of Chapel of Freedom International Churches, Lokoja, Bishop John Ibenu, has called on Christians to emulate Jesus and make sacrifices to make the world, the nation and their families a better place.

Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday on the significance of Easter, Bishop Ibenu said without Easter, there will be no hope for eternity.

he said Easter is a day of hope, victory for the world. A day of victory over sin and death.

“Jesus rose to prove that the price for sin has been paid. No one could have paid this price. We gather every Easter to give thanks to God for giving someone to take our place and die for our sins.

“We are trying to remind ourselves and the world that the reason for Jesus’ sacrifice still suffices. People should sit down, tell the story, reflect on the story and live right,” he said.

Bishop Ibenu called on Christians to emulate Jesus Christ’s exemplary life of sacrifice, adding that Easter is a time for reflection on the sacrifice Christ made while on earth to reconcile humankind with God.

He admonished Christians to return to God in genuine repentance to make the celebration meaningful.
