As part of her efforts to ensure that no child is missed during this year’s Immunization against poliomyelitis in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State, wife of the administrator, Hajiya Fatima Shiru, has gone out to monitor the exercise.
Hajiya Fatima, who went in company of other health officers of the Local Government, later expressed satisfaction with the exercise and pledged her desire to support the programme in any ways she could.
She promised the health workers during her interaction with them on the field, that her office, through her pet project, is ready to ensure that necessary support is provided them to enable them succeed.
Speaking after the monitoring exercise, the Local Government Immunization Officer, Isah Muhammed, thanked the wife of the administrator for taking time to come to the field to see what they do.
He reiterated that the presence of the wife of the administrator served as a morale booster, assuring her that the field workers were doing their best even in the face of difficult weather condition in Lokoja.
Responding, the wife of the administrator, who expressed gratitude to the Immunization Officer and his team for the quality of their jobs, stressed that she had seen where they were experiencing some difficulties and promised to have them corrected.
In her own reaction, the former programmes officer and Director of the Local Government, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar, lauded the humaneness of the wife of the administrator and thanked her for taking out time to be on the field.
While describing Mrs Shiru as a wonderful mother who has the zeal and passion for children as leaders of tomorrow, saying that the monitoring exercise was in realisation of the directive of Governor Yahaya Bello, that polio disease must be kicked out of the state.
She said by the training regimen the immunization health workers were made to go through before the exercise proper and the zeal shown by them, stakeholders have shown determination to see to the end of the disease in Lokoja Local Government.
The DLG also thanked the administrator, Hon Lawal Shiru, for the support he has continued to extend towards the success of the programme, and called on the people to continue to support his policies and programmes.
Wife of the administrator, in company of her entourage visited house to house in all wards of Lokoja metropolis to see the level of adherence to the exercise and to ensure that all children below five years were captured during the exercise.
