The Kogi Leadership Forum (KGLF), a socio-cultural and political organisation has advocated a robust policy for the development of the youth across the country.
The director general of the organisation, Eleojo Musa, who said this at the inauguration of the executive of the forum in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital on Saturday, said governments at various levels should develop policies that would be youth friendly and allow them contribute to the quest for emancipation of the country.
According to him, agitation for recognition by the youth could only not be achieved by appointing them to serve in governments, but through development of policies that affect them.
He said the group was established following the observation of lapses in the handling of issues that affect the youth of Kogi state with the aim of addressing the identified lapses.
Musa said the KGLF was poised to offer and build the youths of the state in the art of qualitative leadership that could prepare them for positions of authority.
The director general observed that there were many “accidental leaders” among the youth presently as many of those occupying positions of leadership were not prepared for the task.
He however explained that the organisation had the plan to assist successive administrations in the state to develop policies that would represent the interest of the youths of the state.
The KGLF also said it would embark on voters education, sensitisation, public lecture, physical project implementation to assist the youth and the government of the state.
Musa said, “Kogi Leadership Forum is just as organisation trying to help to build Kogi state and make it a reference point in leadership across the country”.
The executive secretary, board of trustees of the group, Temitope Adeniyi, urged members of the group to be prepared to face the challenges of building qualitative leadership for the state.
