A software analyst, Mr Dayo Onibiyo, has described the recently concluded workers’ verification exercise in Kogi state as ‘Staff victimization’.
Onibiyo made this assertion in a reaction to the myriad of complaints that trailed the report of the exercise that was officially released by the state government a few days ago.
“I have said this severally, I am an authority in this field, I was part of a similar exercise in Kwara State between 1996 – 1999 as a consultant. I also handled base work for Edo State in 2003-2004.
“What is going on in Kogi State is not Staff Verification, it is Staff Victimization. You can’t screen and downsize workers at the same time. Also, you can’t carry out any form if verification without a software or synchronized database. Where is the database for this exercise? On what OS is it running on.
“No innocent worker deserve to suffer. The system should rather allow the guilty walk free, until it has proofs, rather than punish the innocent.
“When you finally verify that a worker is genuine but he or she had died, got deformed or paralyzed in the course of the exercise, how will you bring such back to life? How do you make up for their children who had to drop out of school? How do you restore their failing health?
“This is quite sad”.
