The Founder of Omoluabi Foundation, Omoluabi Onirinwa Mofolami, on Friday, said people of Kogi State were disappointed in the leadership style of Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
Mofolami who made the assertion while appraising political and social development in Kogi State under the leadership of Governor Bello, added that the people have lost confidence in the governance process since they were not positively impacted by policies and programmes rolled out in the last two years.
According to him the government in the state has not been responsive to the plight of the people, rather had made life unbearable for the people.
He said: “It is unfortunate in Kogi State in many areas because the people thought they will feel they will feel the positive impact of democratic dividends. The moment you lose your ability to sympathise with the people and understand their yearning then of course you are beginning to lose your humanity.
“One of the things that are important in governance is that government should be responsible and responsive enough to listen to the yearnings of the people. At present the government in Kogi State is not responsive, tilting towards anti-people, and we are not impressed at all.
“The state government is not responsive because for two years we have been on the issue of staff and pensioners screening, and what have you, and it seems almost inconclusive. Some people have not been paid two month salary, some 11 months and others 22 months. The issue of labour has remained a deadlock and the governor has failed to address it.
“A government like that is very unfair to its citizenry. A government like that who denies the people what rightfully belongs to them and still gallivanting all over the country and the world enjoying the best luxuries while its people live in penury and abject poverty is a callous government.
“Power belongs to the people and not a few. Today, Governor Bello can buy vote of confidence of members of the State House of Assembly, those in his cabinet because he who pays the piper dictates the tune, and none will sing discordant tunes. But from all I know on ground in Kogi State the citizenry will pass a vote of no confidence on the governor, and If nothing changes in Kogi State come 2019 the All Progressives Congress, APC, will lose Kogi State.
“We have not seen corresponding development in Kogi as we hear. In terms of infrastructural development there is not major done so far, even in the state capital, Lokoja, no meaningful development. The Governor is busy changing entrances to Government House.”
Meanwhile, he (Mofolami) said the Foundation has been involved in many humanitarian gestures to better the lives of young people, and want s to launch by December 2017 some empowerment programmes in 34 wards of Yagba Federal Constituency, made up three local government areas, which are Yagba West, Yagba East, and Mopa-Amoro, and 170 youth will be trained in different phases for about nine months, and will disburse funds to them upon completion of the training in their chosen vocations.

He added that 20 youth from the three local government areas have benefited from educational grants offered by the Foundation to different categories in 2017, which three students are currently in the university, the Foundation will support and sponsor them from first year to final year. “We are launching the programme in December 2017. There is a fixed fund of N2 million we have to it we are still discussing with our partners and friends to be able to come to our aid so that were can reach out to more people in the process”, he stated.
