Lokoja-Koton Karfe (Kogi) Movement has said they will no longer tolerate orchestrated campaigns of calumny against Senator Smart Adeyemi, representing Kogi West Senatorial district by one Ismail Isah from Isanlu in Yagba East Local Government of Kogi state.
The group gave the warning in a statement signed by its coordinator and secretary, Mallam Umar Yakubu and Isiaku Adamgomina yesterday in Lokoja.
The statement read in part:
“Indeed, he was criticizing Senator Smart Adeyemi for the construction of modern street lights but unfortunately, the sponsored bootlicker and street thug is definitely going blind because he can no longer see the good projects done by the leading Senator from Kogi state.
“This reaction is important, as we have noticed the persistent call by some unpatriotic person from Yagba land, mainly sponsored by an aspirant eyeing Senatorial seat, in a sustained campaign, where they have continuously derogate the incumbent and high rating senator.
“We, the people of Lokoja and Koto are saying boldly that we would not vote for his paymaster because he cannot speak Hausa language, as he alleged.
“We have credible information on how this man have been sponsored by the enemies of the transformation agenda of Sen. Smart Adeyemi whose leadership has introduced massive empowerment in Kogi West.
“We wish to inform our people of Kogi West that indeed the plot of the enemies are real and enormous resources have been earmarked to discredit the personality of Sen. Smart Adeyemi by some overzealous leaders and we in Lokoja and Koto will resist it.
“Consequently, we may wish to recall that the public space has been inundated with outright falsehood in recent times through social media by Ismail Isah and his cohorts in an attempt to blackmail and discredit the people’s Senator, Smart Adeyemi.
“The overarching objective is to discredit all the notable achievements of Smart Adeyemi’s leadership in the puerile attempt at instigating people against him and before the Governor of Kogi state.
“We are indeed aware that these despicable elements would go any length in their campaign which has been taken through various dimensions of ethnicity, religious and another unimaginable sentiments.
“We have therefore resolved that we will no longer tolerate these unpatriotic elements, as we are determined to expose them, their sponsors at ensuring that their distraction and falsehood are no longer allowed. We will no longer allow their outright falsehood to stand any longer, because of the consequences it might have on the overall psyche of innocent people of Kogi West.
“We are aware that the sponsors of the campaign of calumny against Sen. Adeyemi will not back down easily, but we will henceforth mobilise our people continuously, to support Adeyemi and to ensure that he continues to deliver on the mandate that he was elected.
“We also wish to sound a note of warning to those fanning the drums of the religious and ethnic campaign against our Senator to immediately desist from such ignoble endeavours in the interest of peace and tranquillity of our country.
“The attempt to denigrate those who have devoted their energy and time to the service of this nation is therefore viewed as very unacceptable and will not be tolerated by us any longer.
“Lokoja- Koto people are known for their dedication, and patriotism to Kogi cause. Therefore it should be on record that this is an attempt at character assassination aimed at rubbishing Sen. Smart’s laudable achievements by this agent provocateur.
“We unequivocally ask that those behind the campaign of calumny against should have a rethink. It would be tantamount to lack of appreciation for his efforts.
““The peculiarity of the time requires that well-meaning people of Kogi West must rise to the occasion by speaking in one voice in this critical point of our existence”.
The group assured Senator Smart Adeyemi of their unflinching loyalty, adding that no amount of blackmail and campaign of calumny by Ismail Isah and his sponsors that will deter them from supporting Senator Smart Adeyemi’s laudable projects.
