Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Muhammed Ahovi Yusuf has revealed that his ministry will uphold the Disabilities Law through infrastructure development in the state
Engr Yusuf made this revelation in Lokoja on Thursday while receiving the Executives of the Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities (JONAPWD), Kogi State chapter, on a courtesy visit
The Commissioner, who further noted that his ministry would intensify more efforts to make life more bearable for the group in infrastructural designs, assured them of more dividends of democracy in this new administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to creating an enabling environment that would give equal and adequate opportunities to persons with disabilities in the state for the fulfillment of their dreams and aspirations in the area of infrastructure.
Recall that on June 4, 2019, the former Governor of Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello signed into law, a bill to establish disability office, guarantee and protect the rights of persons living with disabilities
Responding, the chairman of JONAPWD, Comrade Yahaya Solomon, congratulated the newly appointed commissioner for works.
Comrade Solomon also appealed to the commissioner to put their members into consideration in all the programs and projects of the state, most especially in the area of job creation.
