Some chieftains of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have announced that they will not be participating in the state congress scheduled to hold in Lokoja on Saturday.

They expressed grave concerns on the illegality surrounding the Kogi State PDP Congress to elect state executives slated for Saturday, August 31, 2024.

In a statement signed by Hon. Yabagi Bologi, the Director-General, Capt. Joe Agada Campaign Organization, the chieftains said it was no longer news that the 3 Adhoc delegate election never took place anywhere in Kogi state. Rather, names were picked from the streets to fill up results sheets.

“Our party’s constitution and electoral guidelines stipulate that appeal panel would be constituted to hear issues arising from AdHoc delegate election within 72hours after the said election.

“Since no delegate election was held, no appeal panel was constituted within the stipulated 72 hours.

“It is also noteworthy that the local government election for the purpose of electing national delegates was never conducted anywhere in Kogi state. This is yet another clear violation of the electoral guidelines of our party, PDP.

“It is also instructive to note that the procedures contained in the party’s electoral guidelines were never followed and, as such, rendered the whole process as fraught with illegalities.

“To this end, we can not be used to endorse the reckless disregard for the provisions of the PDP Constitution (2017 as Amended),” the statement read.

The chieftains said since they are already in court to seek redress, there are determined to use every means permissible within the ambit of the law to pursue it to a logical end and return PDP to the path of justice in Kogi State.
