The Kogi State government yesterday said its 2014 budget was successfully implemented.

On Tuesday, a social crusader in the state lamented what he called poor budget implementation.

The state Commissioner for Budget and Planning,  Ali Ajuh,  while giving a breakdown of the 2015 budget, said the state recorded 72.23 per cent implementation in 2014.

He said the state recorded success in health, education and rural development.

“A total sum of N58.77 billion was approved for recurrent expenditure in year 2014 and N42.45 billion was spent as at 31st October, 2014, representing 72.23% performance. A total sum of N70.18 billion was approved as capital expenditure for year 2014”, he said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Zainab Okino, said the state would place emphasis on recurrent expenditure in view of the dwindling revenue accruable to the state from the federal government.

According to her,  the 2015 budget was crafted to capture only realisable revenues, reduce the cost of governance,  emphasis completion of ongoing projects while introducing  few critical ones.
