We Have Keyed into the benefits of MDGs – Wada

The Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, says the present administration has since keyed into the benefits of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), in fast tracking development and improving the well-being of its people.

Wada, stated this while appraising the MDGs as a deliberate strategy the present administration in the State has used to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health.

The Governor commended the laudable role the MDGs has played in peverty reduction in the State,assured of its prompt response to the payment of its counterparts funding to organizations that are concerned about the welfare of children and women health.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy,Yomi Awoniyi, made the appraisal after a visit to some on going MDGs projects across the state, assured of the present administration resolve in bringing succor to the citizenry and in transforming the State.

Also speaking on efforts by the present administration to the eradication of poverty and hunger among the people using the MDGs, Yunusa Mohammed Nasir, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on MDGs and Kogi State Focal Person, said the scheme has concentrated on the provision of bore holes, primary health care services and rehabilitation of schools as areas of priorities.

The MDGs scheme the Special Adviser noted has assisted in improving the lives of the citizens of the state,attributed the success of MDGs inĀ  the State to prompt payment of its counterpart funds.

Under the present administration, over 28 PHCS, 60 VIP toilets, 67 hand pump bore holes and several surface water schemes, malaria and assorted hospital drugs and furniture equipment, the Special Adviser explained have been executed and procured by the MDGs in the State.

Alhaji Yunusa, said several of the MDGs projects inherited are nearing completion assured that several measures have been put in place to ensure that projects under the State MDGs are delivered in good time.
