The Association of Market Men and Women, Kogi State chapter, has commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his sterling leadership since assumption of office.
President of the association, Hajia Momoh Jimba made this known when the market men and women paid Dr. Abubakar Ohere a courtesy visit in his office in Lokoja, the state capital.
Jimba noted that the group is very well pleased with the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello, particularly in the area of peace and security.
She recalled the ordeal of her members in the hands of the men of the underworld whose nefarious activities led to loss of lives and business capitals on the highway until the emergence of Governor Bello whose security apparatus has buried the dark days of insecurity in the state.
She reiterated the readiness of her association whose membership roots across the 3 senatorial zones with every local government having a coordinating organ, to work assiduously to support the current administration and its continuity.
In his response, Engr. Ohere appreciated the association for the courtesy visit and emphasized the tremendous role of commerce in the economy of the nation and that of her politics.
According to him, everybody cannot be a civil servant and those who engage in business and other legal means of livelihood require an enabling environment to thrive which is why Gov. Bello, the chief security officer of the state, has made the peace and security of the land a top priority.
He revealed government’s readiness to work with the association to bring about an enhanced and robust economic development at the grassroot with a view of increasing the internally generated revenue of the state.
Engr. Ohere charged the leadership of ALGON to ensure the 21 Council Administrators establish a synergy with the market women association’s governing body in their respective local government as partners in progress.
