Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada has taken steps to end the water scarcity experienced in Lokoja metropolis for about two weeks.
At the peak of the scarcity last week Friday, our senior correspondent sent an appeal to the governor who responded immediately with a pledge to intervene immediately.
The state government’s intervention yielded immediate results as water started flowing freely from taps of residents across the state capital on Saturday.
The water scarcity experienced in Lokoja was attributed to epileptic power supply from the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Olatunji Oshanusi, clarified that the level of power supply makes it impossible to effectively pump water to the Greater Lokoja Water Work in the state.
Oshanusi assured residents of government’s commitment to ease the peoples’ suffering. He confirmed that the state government had ordered for diesel which would be used to power the generating set as an alternative means to pump water.
