He told the gathering that the present leadership under them understands the critical role that elders, either political or otherwise, play in moving the society forward, saying that in due course, his administrator, Hon Lawal Shiru and himself would sit down and schedule another meeting for proper deliberation with them on ways to move the community forward.

Hon Jibril, who eulogised members of the body,  told  gathering that the present leadership, though youthful, understands that they must factor in associations like theirs to succeed in government.

While acknowledging that the present leadership had just recently been inaugurated into office, he informed them that plans are on ground to hit the ground running and that in no time, they would touch the lives of their people.

Hon Jibril tasked them to resist anything that would breed division and disharmony among the people of Ward B as that is the hope of some mischief makers in the society, describing Hon Shiru as a brother who carries everyone along in all decisions.

He said he does not only see the administrator as a boss in the office, but also as a brother that is always ready to put his younger one through in all that he does.

In an earlier address during the meeting, a member of the Cantonment Elders Forum and Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon Muhammed Ndambabo Kyapi, told the Secretary that they were in his office to felicitate with them and to bring Ramadan greetings to the present administration.

He also expressed their pride in the vibrance shown so far by the overwhelmingly youthful council, saying that they would always extend their support to the present administration.

On his part, the leader of the delegation, Shiru Angulu Yusuf, told the secretary that they were at the council Secretariat to register their joy over the love that has been shown the people of Cantonment and Ward B in general by the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, over the appointment of the team.

He said by the appointment, the tears of cantonment people have been wiped  away, as their cry for marginalization was gradually being addressed.

The meeting, which was like a family reunion saw more of relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, with little or no officialdom, as it had several backslapping and camaraderie between the guests and the secretary.
