Governor Idris Wada of Kogi on Wednesday urged the Attah-Igala, His Highness Idakwo Ameh-Oboni II, to support the state government’s transformation agenda in the agriculture sector.
The governor made the call when the Attah of Igala visited him at Government House, Lokoja.
Wada urged traditional rulers to use their good offices to boost agricultural production in their areas in order to further drive home government’s agriculture agenda.
He said that government would not leave any stone unturned in its drive to boost agricultural production in the state.
He urged the Attah to assist the state government in this direction, saying that the Igala kingdom was blessed with vast fertile and arable land suitable for high production of food and cash crops.
Wada commended the royal father for making his office the first place of his official assignment after his coronation.
“We know the role of Igala Kingdom in this region as we look up to you for the unity of Igalaland. With your pedigree and track records, you will achieve it.
“Your late father was an epitome of quality leadership who raised the morale of Igala people,” the governor said.
Earlier, Ameh-Oboni II said that with hard work, dedication and prayers, Kogi would attain greater heights in development within a very short time.
He said the state is blessed with quality human and material resources to transform it.
He commended the governor over the calibre of professionals in his cabinet, saying that they were men and women who had excelled in their various fields of endeavour before their appointment.
The monarch said he was at the Government House to thank Wada, who made it possible for him to ascend his forefathers’ throne.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the new Attah was presented with the Staff of Office at a colourful coronation on April 27 at his palace in Idah.
