Wada Pledges To Tackle Marginalisation in Kogi

Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor has disclosed that he is committed to working towards building a virile, strong and re branded Kogi State.

The State Governor made the promise when the Committee set up to address the issues of alleged marginalization raised by the Okun Development Union submitted its report.

The governor explained that his thinking and actions since assumption of office has been to place the State first and not about himself.

Capt Wada promise to address all issues raised in the report after a careful study, disclosing that he believes in fairness, equity and justice.

Gov. Wada commended the Committee for the painstaking efforts it took to look at issues dispassionately in their assignment, promised a speedy implementation of the committee’s recommendation.

While noting that he is optimistic that with the broad spectrum of the committee members, the cry of marginalization by all the segment of the  state will be addressed by the recommendations made as well as serve as a template for solving issues of marginalization across the State.

The Governor disclosed that with the efforts used in arriving at the recommendations, said he was confident that the recommendations will help the state to be more united, fair and progressive.

While describing the present administration as one with listening ears, Capt Wada said he is optimistic that the recommendations will silent all issues of marginalization that tends to divide rather than unite the State.

The governor cautioned that rather than people working along tribal, Zonal and lines of Local Government Areas, the interest of the state he appealed should come first in their undertaken for the attainment of the transformation agenda of the present administration.

The Governor promise to set up a committee that would produce a white paper for further implementation by the State Government, commended the committee for a job well done, geared towards making the State a model of good governance.

Earlier in his submission, Yomi Awoniyi, Deputy Governor and Chairman of the nine member Committee, said the kernel of the report was a product of analysis from the memoranda also submitted by the Ebira and Igala development associations aside that of the Okun Development Union.

He added that data were equally received from various Ministries, Agencies and Tertiary Institutions across the state on the composition of staff and infrastructure spread, thanked the governor for allowing the committee the opportunity to find a lasting solution to the issues of marginalization in the state.

Awoniyi maintained that the recommendations analyzed from the findings will be found suitable in moving the state forward as it to a large extent met the yearning and aspiration of the people.

Ten copies of the report were later submitted by the committee to the governor.

Other members of the committee are: Yahaya Agbenyo, Moses Atakpa, Joseph Daniels, Talib Raji, Stephen Olorunfemi, Tunde Arosanyin, Stephen Yakubu and Ezekiel Obayemi.
