The Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, has been described as one among the best Governor’s in the country in term of accountability and transparency.
Dr. Abdullahi Shehu, Director General of Inter – Governmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa and a consultant to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), made the disclosure while in Lokoja, for a sensitization workshop for Council Chairmen, and other principal officers of the 21 Local Government Area Councils.
Dr. Abdullahi, who delivered a paper on “Democracy, Good Governance and Challenges of Development” urged the Council Chairmen to learn the act of transparency as being exhibited by Capt. Wada, adding that he remain one among those serving as Governors whose records remain a shining example.
Dr. Abdullahi, said despite the challenges of limited resources, pressures, ethnicity and corruption that the Council Chairmen may face in discharging their duties ,the council bosses will make remarkable impact if they re- order their priorities.
The EFCC Consultant and Financial expert, urged the Chairmen to be accountable, develop a workable budget and have the fear of God in the discharge of their duties.
In his speech, the State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, who represented the Governor, said the clean bill of transparency so far displayed in Governance by Capt Idris Wada was informed by the need to live above board and by example.
The Deputy Governor called on the Council Chairmen to be vanguard of development and support to the State Governor’s Transformation Agenda.
