*74,000 Treated So Far…Govt/CEDIO Target 115,000 Sick Persons In Kogi

CEDIO, Rural Outreach Ministry, a faith based free medical outreach, in conjunction with Kogi State Ministry of Health, today, Sunday, December 8, 2013, completed day two of the five-day free medical outreach to Yagba West LGA, Kogi State. Besieged by thousands of sick persons in Egbe at the Government-owned Cottage Hospital along Pategi Road, Odo-Egbe, select medical doctors under Kogi State Government pay-roll successful carried out various surgical operations on 10 sick persons; this was in an addition to eight persons operated yesterday, bringing to 18 operations operated in two days. Over 1000 persons with variety of ailments have been treated so far since the team arrived Yagba West, Saturday.

CEDIO, led by Evang  Ifeanchukwu Okutani, has traversed the nooks and cranny of Kogi State since the free medical services initiated by Gov Idris Wada debuted about a year ago.

Quoting the words of Okatani, a social welfare officer by her calling, other states which had engaged CEDIO services include Lagos and Ondo States, among others.

According to her, more than 115, 000 sick persons are targeted out of which 74,000 have been treated in Kogi State as the outreach entered the second phase of the four phases agreement signed with Kogi State Government.

Okatani hinted that the team is bided to proceed from Yagba West to Yagba East on Tuesday in continuation of the free medical services, from where it will storm communities in Okehi, Kogi Central on the 16th of December.

Mrs Eunice Balogun, one of the beneficiaries at Egbe Cottage Hospital disclosed to this reporter that a +1.25 eye glasses which costs 4,500 at ECWA Hospital, was issued free to her. She thanked the Kogi State Government for the humane initiative.

Okatani disclosed that, as part of the agreement signed with Kogi Government, severe cases of operation have been referred to specialist centers in India to be funded by the state government.
