Wada Assures Kabba-Bunu People of Provision of Social Infrastructure

The people of Kabba–Bunu Local Government Area have been assured of the commitment of the administration of Capt. Idris Wada to the provision of social infrastructure and services in the area.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, gave the assurance when he received in audience, the Kabba – Bunu Leadership forum, led by Dr Stephen Olurunfemi.

The Deputy Governor who cited the on-going upgrade of the structure and facilities in the St Augustine College, Kabba and the rehabilitation of Kabba township road as a demonstration of Government’s efforts in social development, assured that more schools in the area will benefit from the school upgrade programme, while communities that are yet to be provided with electricity will benefit from the current electrification programme of the Government.

Awoniyi who commended the Federal Government for the commencement of work on the Kabba – Egbe – Ilorin road disclosed that all the bottlenecks surrounding the construction of the Obajana – Kabba end of the road have been removed and work would commence on that section soon.

The Deputy Governor informed the leaders that arrangements have been concluded for the establishment of a Power Holding Company of Nigeria Transmission substation in the area, stressing that to complement the gesture of the Power Holding Company, His Excellency Captain Idris Wada has decided to waive the fees due on the certificate of occupancy on the site of the substation.

The Deputy Governor thanked the people of Kabba – Bunu for the free land given for the establishment of the Transmission substation.

Awoniyi assured the people that under the bond procured by the State Government, carry out massive rehabilitation work at the Kabba General Hospital.

Awoniyi promised to convey the group’s request for appointment and empowerment to Capt Idris Wada the State Governor.

Earlier in his address, Dr Stephen Olurunfemi, leader and spokesman of the delegation said their visit was to introduce the leadership of the Forum to the Deputy Governor.

Dr Olurunfemi said the leaders cut across the fifteen wards of the Local Government Area, thanked the State Government for the on-going work at St Augustine College Kabba, the ongoing work on Kabba township roads, and urged the present administration to sustain the infrastructural development at the College of Education Technical Kabba.

While soliciting for more of State Government appointments and empowerment for the people of Kabba – Bunu Local Government Area by the present administration, the forum also solicited rural electrification projects for communities in Bunu area of the Local Government Area
