I write to you on behalf of Middlebelt Movement for Restoration and Development, as my position is believed to be the opinion of most Obidients and patriotic members of Labour Party.
You are to most of us a highly respected elder brother and friend, as your commitment to the building of a new Nigerian is commendable and inspirational to all those who share same values.
It is also worthy to note that the concern you raised about the leadership tussle in Labour Party, following the widely criticized and mostly rejected national convention needed redress as the body language of our principal Peter Obi has been misinterpreted in your statement which I believe was made following the frustration of the situation and the inability of HE Peter Obi to take sides and give instructions on the way forward in a hurry.
To set the record straight, HE Peter Obi has always stressed the importance of adhering to the rule of law, and that gives opportunity for fair hearing of both sides of the divide void of the clear evidence and allegation of fraud, that is why when asked by journalist who was the present National Chairman of Labour Party, His Excellency Peter Obi said only INEC can tell us.
This is because he wants to give every individual the opportunity to plead their case before verdict, and complete resolution that will be most acceptable and fair. Recent development from INEC clearly proves that the said convention remain invalid as Abure tenure is over with no acceptable convention to produce new leadership to this moment.
In law which happens to be your field, if you apprehend a criminal suspect that committed murder, even if you have video evidence and witness, you will give the suspect the opportunity for fair hearing and that opportunity given by the jury doesn’t suggest lack of leadership or weakness.
His Excellency Peter Obi is committed to follow due process and bring about peace in every instance and will not make decisions as a dictator.
I am hopeful of your continuous support and dedication to our vision of building a new Nigeria that is committed to upholding the rule of law even in the face of daring situation such as this, as consolidation of Labour Party remains an option you say you are open to.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Sincerely,
Idakwo Emmanuel
