To the Federal Government of Nigeria and Kogi State Government.

We, the students of FEDERAL UNIVERSITY LOKOJA are writing to express our deepest sorrow, outrage, and frustration following the latest tragic incident where a truck fell on our school shuttle, resulting in the loss of 7 precious lives. This is not an isolated incident, as several students have lost their lives in similar accidents in the past.

We can no longer remain silent and tolerate this senseless loss of life. We urge you to take immediate and decisive action to address the issue of truck movement in our area. The frequency and severity of these accidents demonstrate a clear failure of the current system, and it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens, particularly students.

We demand that the government:

  1. Conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the latest incident and provide justice to the families of the victims.
  2. Implement an immediate ban on truck movement in our area until a comprehensive solution is found.
  3. Develop and implement a long-term plan to regulate truck movement, including designated routes, speed limits, and regular vehicle inspections.
  4. Provide compensation to the families of the victims and support for the affected students.
  5. Work with the school administration to develop and implement a comprehensive safety plan.

We request a meeting with the relevant government officials to discuss this matter further and explore solutions. We also expect a prompt response regarding the actions the government will take to address our concerns.

We will not rest until our demands are met, and we will continue to raise our voices until the government takes concrete action to ensure our safety.

Sincerely,
Moses Abednego Okaku
Federal University Lokoja.
