The Chief Press Secretary to the Yagba West Local Government Council in Kogi state, Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, has called for calm among residents as authorities intensify efforts to address the recent security challenges in the area.

In a statement on Monday, Babarinde said the local government, in collaboration with security agencies, including local hunters and conventional security operatives, is working to strengthen the security architecture and ensure the safe return of individuals recently abducted.

He urged residents to refrain from spreading unverified information that could fuel panic and unrest. Instead, he encouraged them to report suspicious movements, individuals, and activities to security agencies promptly.

“The council is fully committed to restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property across Yagba West,” Babarinde said. “We are working round the clock with relevant security stakeholders to ensure that those responsible are apprehended and that normalcy is restored.”

He also stated that the local authority has initiated measures such as improved intelligence gathering to prevent further breaches.

Babarinde appealed for continued cooperation between residents and security operatives, stressing that community support is critical in tackling insecurity effectively.

The Chief Press Secretary reaffirmed the council’s commitment to prioritizing the safety of its citizens and urged residents to stay vigilant, law-abiding, and hopeful as efforts continue to address the situation.
