Senator Atai Aidoko Ali has expressed worry over the lingering non-payment of salaries and pensions in Kogi State.
Aidoko, who spoke with newsmen after plenary on Thursday, said the trend of non-payment of Kogi workers’ salaries must stop.
He expressed deep reservation on the prevailing situation in Kogi where, he said, governance has been reduced to personal properties against the rule of law.
Aidoko counseled Governor Yahaya Bello on the need to govern Kogi state with the fear of God. He said he had distanced himself from interfering in the administration of the state since its inception but was constrained to speak out against the current ugly trend in the state.
At the plenary, Aidoko submitted a petition before the Senate complaining on the flagrant flouting of court decisions by the state government to offset the entitlements of a state lawmaker, Honourable Friday Sani Makama.
In his petition, Aidoko highlighted that the process that led to the suspension of ‎the recalled lawmaker and workers screening was wrong in its entirety as it was glaringly the handiwork of the executive arm to silence the opposition  in the state house of assembly.
He stated that it was a reaction taken too far for a governor to disobey court orders ‎rather protecting same.
Senator Aidoko urged the senate to urgently look into the matter ‎without further delay as the state lawmaker and workers have been starved of their entitlements owing to sheer dirty politicking to starve them.

The senate refers the matter to its committee on ethics and privileges for accelerated action.
