The United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNESC) Nigeria has honoured a two term chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi state, Honourable Funsho Olumoko; General Paul Boroh and others for their immense humanitarian activities and contributions to their communities and society at large.
The award ceremony is to commemorate the United Nations World Humanitarian day marked every 19th of August in honour of the humanitarian aid workers who lost their lives during a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, where 22 humanitarian aid workers, including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello were killed.
In his remarks, the UNESC full African Charman, Ambassador Prof, Nathan Luga said those who are been honoured today contributed immensely the attainment of Millinium Development Goals MDG and are also contributing to the Sustainable Development Goal which agenda set for 2030.
While speaking, the Nigerian Full Chairman of UNESC, Ambassador Dr Blessing Gozi-Anyaokei said those who have contributed massively deserves to be recognised for their contributions to humanity as this will encourage them to do more for humanity.
Other awardee includes; Dr. Christopher Atabor, Honourable Kenneth Chukwuemeka, Dr Fabian Nwora, Alex Mascot, Nkoyo Friday Essien, Mrs Nkechi Ayogwueze, Dr George Charles Ikpot, Dr Mrs Mariam Abudulahi and Mrs Maimunat Ali-Keffi.
