“The difference between a ripe fruit and an unripe fruit is time”.
“If you say the truth you will die, if you lie you will still die. I chose to say the truth and die” –Dino.
When we lie at any instance, we always keep lying to cover up that up those first lies in which we have once told. This is the situation which the current government in Kogi state has put itself as a result of constantly lying to its citizen.
On the 25th of march 2017, Elder Friday Sani (MAKAMA) member representing Igalamela/Odolu constituency in the state House Of Assembly who at same time doubles as chairman house committees on public accounts, drew the attention of the entire Kogites through his social media handle to the fact that they was no Kogi state government account domiciled anywhere in Nigeria nor any part of the world that has the funds to pay the outstanding salaries and arrears of civil servants in the Kogi state.
And as a matter of fact that the state government under the present administration of Gov Yahaya Bello is broke at moment and would not be able to pay the 12-14 months salaries and arrears of workers at end of march 2017 as promised by the Government and even if the Yahaya Bello led administration is given a year, he will still find it difficult to pay civil servants up to date. And eventually if the government pays Kogi civil servants on the 30th of march 2017 as promised he Hon. Friday Sani will go on his kneels on the public roads of Lokoja to apologize to the government and good people of Kogi state for lying against the government.
Behold, my dear people of Kogi state where finding it difficult to believe this resounding revelations because of the high hopes this date has raised in them to end the long sufferings been inflicted on them by government. But in early hours of yesterday 28th march 2017 less than a week of Hon. Friday Sani’s revelation, the state government has come out to openly appeal to Kogi civil servants to give them another 3 weeks (almost a month) more to conclude the screening that has lasted for more than 14 months, confirming the early assertion and revelations of Hon. Friday Sani (Makama).
With all these events unfolding in the state there are two major questions that demands urgent answers from the government for the sake of accountability and good governance, they are;
It’s no longer news that the federal government has released the sum of N20 billion as bailout fund to the state to pay up arrears and salaries of civil servant across board but just a hand full of civil servants were paid salaries in the name of screening claiming that more will receive theirs and all will paid up to date after the screening which has not ended up till now, what has government done with the bailout funds received and if its save, in which of the Kogi state account is it lodged in?
The state government recently received the first tranche of Paris Club Refund, where is the money or in which of the Kogi state accounts is it lodged in or what have they done with it?
My dear Kogites and all concerned Nigerian, it’s no longer news, and do not surprised me that Hon. Friday Sani, The Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts who made this shocking revelations few days ago was suspended during Tuesday 28th march 2017 plenary session by the leadership of the house because the Executive arm has seen that the probability of this committee (who’s over sight function is to scrutinize the utilization of public funds and checking the excess of the executive financial spending of state funds) covering up this tracks is zero.
Any man who chooses to be on the side of truth, association of liars and perpetrators of evil/unjust acts will surely gang up against him. Hon. Friday sani you are not the first man that unjust men will gang up against neither will you be the last. Time shall tell.
Finally I will end this piece by reminding you once again that; “the different between a ripe fruit and an unripe fruit is TIME”.
Gov. Yahaya Bello Respond To Your Responsibilities And Save Our Dear State From Going From Bad To Worst.
