The Chairmanship aspirant of Lokoja Local Government Area, under the platform of All Progressive Congress, APC, Hon Tijjani Bin-ebaiya shehu, yesterday paid a solidarity visit to the former Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Umar Imam at his GRA residence, Lokoja.
Speaking during the visit Hon. Shehu informed the former Speaker that they visited to congratulate him for his courage.
“We are here to join other Kogites who have been trooping here since your historic resignation as the Speaker. As my mentor and my role model I was not surprised when I received the news of your resignation, we are behind you and we’ll continue to pray for you in your future endeavours”, he said.
Hon Shehu pointed out that the joy of all Lokojans is that none of it leader was ever humiliated out of office.
“The good thing about us (Lokojans) is that none of our leaders was ever disgraced out of office, from Late Speaker Madaki to Rt. Hon. Umar Buba Jibril and now Rt. Hon. Imam”, he said.
He appealed to politicians from Lokoja Local Government Area, in general and Lokoja 1 constituency in particular, to emulate the selfless service as exhibited by Hon. Imam, adding that the short period the former speaker led the legislative arm and the commendations he received from his colleagues and the entire state is a clear indication that Imam has a brighter future in the political equations in Kogi State.
Responding, Rt Hon. Umar thanked them for the visit and assured the people of Lokoja 1, constituency of his determination to serve them by protecting their interest at all time.
He lamented over what he described as leaving politics in the hands of undemocratic politicians.
“Let us encouraged good people to join politics, we must elect leaders who care for us”, he advised.
The delegation was led by the Chairman Team BEST Campaign Director General, Hon Salihu Abdullahi and a host of others.
