Charity they say always begins at home but reverse is the case of Ugbamaka, this is the best way to begin this heart breaking exposition of the abandoned life of the people of Ugbamaka of Kogi state where the incumbent Sen Atai Aidoko hails from.
To me, the pathetic conditions of the people living in Ugbamaka is a reflection of the same suffering that has spread across the entire constituency under the watch of senator Atai Aidoko.
Ugbamaka is one of sub communities in Kogi state that has a population of about 25,000 both home and in diaspora, this community has been fortunate to have produce the one time House of Rep Member and a two time senator of the federal republic of Nigeria.
With such a rare privilege you will conclude that the community will be one of the most developed in the whole of Kogi East, but sorry to disappoint you reverse is the case of Ugbamaka.
This very community does not have common drinkable water and it’s natives have to trek for kilometers just to fetch water, not to talk of primary health care centre, electricity or even schools.
The level of poverty there is so much that it can not be explained, they are a people totally abandoned, not even by the government but by their own son who has been a seating senator of the federal republic of Nigeria for eight years now.
Then the questions some of us are beginning to ask is if Ugbamaka the home town of the senator is suffering such neglect, what then becomes the fate of the people in my village at Agbenema, what of the people of Ibaji, what of the people of Bassa who are minorities, what of the people at far Okpo, what of the people at Igalamela or the people at Omala who just local government area in the constituency.
If the seating senator could neglect his own people despite several plea for just drinkable water, then neglecting the other communities in the constituency will be a free walk.
I want to say here that the present suffering of the people of Ugbamaka under the watch of their son is a complete replica of what the entire Kogi east has been going through under the watch of this senator.
And we must rise up and say no to this form of inhuman representation, we must come together as a people and reject this terrible kind of representation, we must rally round and say no to this kind of unforgivable leadership that does not have common sympathy and the fear of God.
What did we do to deserve such heartlessness? What did we do to deserve such inhuman treatment? What did we do to be so punished like this? What did we do to be abandoned and left to wallow in abject poverty, lack and suffering?
They have fooled us for too long, these people have exploited us for too long, they have used us for too long, they have robbed us of our common wealth for too long and we must rise up and ensure that we correct this error and install an aspirant that can lead us to the promise land.
We must avoid those who have abandoned their people when they people needs them the most, we must avoid those whose concern is just their selfish selves and not the poor masses, we must avoid those who are solely out to steal our common wealth, we must take cognizance of those whose daily effort is to ensure that the exploit the people.
Such aspirants and leaders are the problems with our constituency, they are the reasons behind our suffering, they are the very ones that have forced us to where we are today and the only way to correct it is by taking power from them.
Let us support some one who can deliver, let us rally round some one who really has the people at heart, let us rescue Kogi east with some one who understands all our sincere problems, some one who knows how much we are suffering.
There are hundreds of communities in Kogi east going through the same thing Ugbamaka is suffering. There are so many villages that are suffering the same neglect that Ugbamaka is going through, there are so many communities that have been lavish with poverty the same way Ugbamaka is been inflicted today and the only way we can rescue them is by giving our support to an aspirant who is solely out to correct this ills, a man whose daily struggle is to give a meaningful life to our people.
Let us change the situation, let us end the suffering, let us rescue our constituency.
