No fewer than two suspected cult members lost their lives during a fierce clash between cult groups in Lokoja yesterday Residents of Ganaja village at the outskirts of Lokoja metropolis have become apprehensive following activities of cult members which brought pandemonium in the community. Sunday Mirror gathered that the problem started when the suspected group known as Eyee was initiating a secondary school student at UBEC Secondary School in the community, which was said to have attracted another group known as Elebe in the area.
Eyewitness account said when the Eyee group was sensing what could happen, they dispersed and later regrouped along Yama Road still within the same community. It was learnt that the Elebe group leader ordered the Eyee group to disperse, which was enforced by the members with knives and other dangerous weapons. The clash however led to stampede in the communities as some of them were said to have ran toward the palace the chief of the area destroyed some vehicles parked within the palace. However, before the arrival of securitymen at scene, the rival groups had inflicted varying degree of injuries on some members. Two died and others were on danger list at Federal Medical Centre, FMC.
