A set of unidentified hoodlums, made a swift move on Government Girls Secondary School Sarkin Noma and Lokongoma Secondary School in Lokoja LGA, and set both schools, ablaze. The schools were renovated and furnished by: Sen. Dino Melaye, as part of his District projects and it was set for commissioning on same day the inferno occurred (today, 18th of July 2018). Table Shakers Association of Nigeria (TSAN) Kogi State Chapter, in totality, condemns this hideous act.

This is an act of wickedness on the poor students attending these schools; as the beneficiaries of these schools, has been suffering from poor schooling facilities. Sen. Melaye’s children can never attend any of these schools. Hence it is absurd, to destroy a standing structure built to put smiles on the faces of the host communities. The destruction does not change the fact that Sen. Dino Melaye facilitated the projects, and record will preserve it for posterity.

Table Shakers Association of Nigeria (TSAN), urged politicians in the state to shun politics of bitterness and put the interest of the masses at heart. The association also urge the concern government agencies to look into the matter and bring all perpetrators to justice. The security agencies should be more proactive, to prevent future occurrence. This act is a stain on the integrity of the state; with this happening, days after the state was declared as the safest state in the country.

With the information reaching TSAN; it has been alleged that the facilitator refused to carry the State government, SUBEB, and the LGEA along, during the renovation phase and no notification was officially made prior to the commissioning. Be as it may; TSAN maintained that, abuse of protocol is not enough reason for defacement.

The progress of this state is paramount and it supersedes any political ambition of individuals. We sympathise with the affected communities and we pray for a double fold. We also commend the effort of Sen. Dino Melaye, for facilitating these projects.

God bless Kogi State, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Signed:

Salami Banjo

Chairman BoT, TSAN Kogi State Chapter
