Abraham Lincoln once remarked that nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.
Through divine providence, Capt Idris Ichalla Wada rose from being a commercial pilot to becoming the Governor of Kogi State (2011 – 2015). His time in office as governor of the state was characterized with relative peace; a major requirement for sustainable growth and development.
Although being limited by the paucity of funds while in Office as Governor of Kogi State, Capt Idris Ichalla Wada through tick and thin, laid the very foundation for sustainable growth and development in the state.
Just like every true father, Capt Idris Ichalla Wada is compassionate and a man of quiet faith. His unfailing generosity is a testament to his character. Many who have come to know him would tell you that at some point, H.E Capt Idris Ichalla Wada became a father figure in their lives owing to the honest and beneficial advice he dishes out generously from the well of goodness in his heart.
H.E Capt Idris Ichalla Wada wasn’t a deranged despot while in office. He was one of the very few leaders willing to push beyond empty resolutions. He thinks through his thoughts carefully before executing them.
His decamping from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) marks a significant turning point in Kogi State politics, signalling a broader political recalibration that could reshape party dominance in the North – Central State.
As he decamps on Monday the 17th of November, 2025 to the All Progressive Congress (APC), it is my hope that the people of Kogi East and the APC led administration in Kogi State will accord him the maximum support and honor that he deserves.
When the history books are written, men of good conscience would say Capt Idris Ichalla Wada is a good and faithful man. A flight instructor and pilot of unmatched knowledge and skill, a former State Chief Executive of formidable accomplishments and a gentleman who executed the duties of his office with dignity and honor.
