Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) star witness before the tribunal accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of announcing fraudulent presidential results.
At the presidential election petition court (PEPC) on Friday, the lead counsel to Mr Abubakar and PDP, Chris Uche presented its 22nd witness, Dino Melaye, the national collation agent for PDP at the 2023 presidential elections.
Mr Melaye alleged that the announced election results were wrongly computed by INEC, which he objected to because he doesn’t support fraud.
He further stated that INEC had failed to transmit form EC8As to the IREV portal. He also alleged that INEC used a device management system to intercept real time uploading of polling unit results which led to electoral malpractices that took place in Benue, Kano and Borno states.
PDP also tendered as evidence documents presented to them by INEC under subpoena which included forms EC8As of 13 LGAs in Nasarawa state, informing the court that they had initially requested for 22 states but INEC brought only that of Nasarawa state.
Also, certified true copies of forms EC40G and EC40G(2) of Nasarawa state which were summaries of areas in the 13 LGAs in Nasarawa state where elections were not carried out, disrupted or cancelled.
Mr Uche pleaded with the court to adjourn the case for continuation of its witness hearing, which Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani accepted and further adjourned the petition to Monday, June 19.
