This piece is an attempt to acquaint people who may not know much about the person of Hon. Tosin Olokun, the caretaker/Transition Chairman of Yagba West with a little information about him .
Hon. Tosin Olokun is the present Caretaker/Transition Chairman of Yagba West Local Council and the Chairman, Kogi State Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria(ALGON)
Tosin Olokun is a native of Egbe, Yagba West, Kogi State.
An holder of a Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate. Happily married and blessed with children.
Hon. Tosin Olokun is a very young, dynamic, very tactical and cerebral personality who does not give in to frivolity and deceit but highly committed to serving humanity through sacrificing his comfort for the good of others.
I never met Tosin Olokun in my journey of life until 2021 when I was privileged to be appointed by Chief Pius Kolawole to serve as his media assistant with Tosin Olokun also appointed a supervisor under same administration.
The three years we worked together afforded me a great deal of opportunity and offered me good information about who Tosin Olokun is and what defines his personality.
Whatever little success I might have achieved in the course of my assignment as media assistant would not have being without the support of the likes of Tosin Olokun.
It may be instructive to say that while my boss, Chief Pius Kolawole in his magnanimity and expression of love granted me undistorted access to my educational pursuit, Tosin made it possible for me to carry out my assignment and function effectively even while I was far away from Yagba West. Tosin will call to inform me of any events and scheduled programs ahead of time, at the event, let me say here that Tosin was the one sending pictures and information needed to do my job without hitches.
Another important occasion I must not forget to mention was the journey to 2023 general elections, Tosin will call me several times and in the middle of the night to give suggestions and expressed his views of how we must work for the success of APC most particularly the Senatorial election appeared to be utmost in his mind.
Tosin Olokun singlehandedly brought a lot of personalities from the seven local government of Kogi West together to form a political group called the KOGI WEST APC PROGRESSIVES which is centered on how to win the Senate.
The most amazing part of it was that members who come from across these local government for their meetings in Isanlu, the headquarters of Yagba East and Lokoja with Tosin Olokun and Chief Anjorin popularly called “The Best” who is the Kogi West Zonal Chairman of the APC and my humble self financing the group with little or know support from any individual. This I can confidently say.
Tosin Olokun represents integrity, character, goodliness, progressivism, and all that qualifies a man as good leader.
A tested, trusted, and result oriented person whose facial expression, looking at him from a distance, one may be tempted to do a misreprentation of his meek personality.
One big virtue about Tosin Olokun that can not be controverted is his humility, unassuming nature, respect for persons, old ,young, male or female, respect for divergent opinions, accommodative and his unending thirst for peace and inclusivity.
Tosin is a Well coordinated and unassuming personality with unquenchable passion for group achievements and societal growth which suggests a paradigm shift.
His honesty, character, simplicity and hardwork can be attested to by anyone who had ever by any pinch of chance and time had interacted with him.
This was his Testimony that had endeared him to many leaders across political divides, religion inclinations and tribal groups.
He is a bridge builder and emerging new generational leader with sublime mind giving to listening, learning, thinking and taking positive decisions. Not one who talk before thinking.
I think with this little information about who Tosin Olokun is, it will not be a blunder to congratulate Yagba West people for having Tosin at this time as leading the Local government from the front and to describe him as emerging generational leader.
From the above therefore, I want to conclude by appealing for supports of citizens and lovers of good things for Tosin with prayers, counsels, admonitions and constructive criticisms for him to succeed in the onerous task demanded of his present position at this time.
