Titilayo Fanwo Empowerment Foundation has announced its 2018 Programs which include an Essay Competition among students in tertiary institutions and secondary schools in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, Tuesday, the Chairman of the Foundation who doubles as the Director General on Media and Publicity to he Kogi State Governor, Kingsley Fanwo said the program was aimed at rewarding academic excellence.
He said such Competition will galvanize students to see education as everything about life.
“After deliberations by the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, it was agreed that we need to dedicate this year to rewarding academic excellence among our youth in Mopamuro Local Government Area.
“Our late mum was a teacher of English Language who later became a broadcaster of immense status. She lived her life adoring and rewarding excellent students. We want to honor her by following her path in a different way this year.
“The Tertiary Institutions Category will welcome applications from students in tertiary institutions across the country who are from Mopamuro Local Government Area. The test will come up at the Federal University, Lokoja on July 4, 2018 with the winner going home with 200,000 Naira, second position will attract 150,000 Naira and the third position will attract 100,000 Naira. “The secondary school category will hold at the Government Day Secondary School, Takete Ide Amuro in Mopamuro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
“Winners of both categories shall be announced through print, electronic and online media on September 1, 2018 and their awards and cash prizes shall be presented to them on September 2, 2018 in honor of our late mother”.
Fanwo said the first, second and third in secondary school Category will go home with 100,000 Naira, 70,000 Naira and 50,000 Naira respectively.
He thanked members of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for their commitment to empowering the people.
