The Director General on Media and Publicity to the Kogi State Governor, Kingsley Fanwo said the Times Heroes Award bestowed upon the Alh. Yahaya Bello has ushered the young Governor into the Hall of Fame, saying the Governor will keep striving to improve the living standards of the people.
The Governor’s spokesman made this known while briefing newsmen at the headquarters of Ijumu Local Government Council, Iyara. He said the Governor has performed creditably since assuming office on January 27, 2016.
According to him, “the Governor has scored an excellent point in the areas of ensuring security and improving healthcare”, saying the administration has not derailed in pursuing its educational agenda for the state.
“Education is the priority of the present administration. We are not looking at education from the prism of enhancing job chances alone, but also releasing the populace from the prison of ignorance. No nation can develop without developing its education first. With this knowledge, Governor Yahaya Bello has made education number one of his five thematic areas. An educated mind is a weapon for social, political and economic emancipation.
“We have started moulding Kogi schools into the New Direction Model. We are working already on the pilot schools which will go side by side with model hospitals. The clear vision of the Governor is already dropping the fruits of good governance for the people of Kogi State.
“As we speak, logic has become a construction hub as road construction works are going on simultaneously across the three Senatorial Districts of the state, with the First Phase covering over 13 Local Government Areas across the state. Rural communities are now beginning to see how possible it is to have Grade A roads.
“We have put in place health policies and programs that will enable Kogi people access healthcare at a ridiculously low cost. This will keep more money in the pockets of our people. We are provoking an agricultural revolution here that will shock the world. Nigerians will be proud of what will emerge from Kogi State in a couple of months”.
Fanwo said the present administration has trained thousands of youth and empowered them in order to make them self-reliant and take them off the field of criminality.
