The Kogi State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has asked the present administration in the State to seek ways of appeasing the people for the hardship and death it is inflicting, rather than concocting stories aimed at tarnishing the Image and good relationship between former Governors Ibrahim Idris and his successor, Capt. Idris Wada.

This is contained in a statement released in Lokoja and signed by Mr. Achadu Dickson, the party’s Director of Research and Documentation, to debunk a story by Inside News, an online media owned by Mr. Edward Onoja, the Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello and being sponsored with funds from the state treasury. The medium had carried a report alleging a rift between the two former Governors and that Wada had complained that he paid N4.5 billion to his predecessor as refund for the expenses he incurred on his election in 2011 and therefore accused him of not “knowing Allah”

Achadu described the report as baseless, false, uncoordinated, and a figment of a warped imagination, aimed at generating bad blood between the two former governors on one hand and deceiving an innocent public on the other.

The statement lamented that “it is unfortunate that a government would fund an online media, using guerrilla style of journalism, to assassinate the hard earned reputations of elder statesmen who built their lives on hard work and integrity, all in the name of playing politics. Captain Wada’s loyalty to his political leader and mentor remains untainted. The two men and indeed other leaders of the PDP are on the same page working to strengthen the party and to push out the clueless and quarrelsome regime in Lugard House.”

“We frown at the lies being peddled by the online platform, same method of lies that have been used to govern the state for nearly two years now, an action that has left the growth and development of the state several years backward. Rather than chasing of imaginary enemies and the fear of what the people would do to a government whose stock in trade is to see people commit suicide, or die daily. we call on the Bello regime to prepare for the judgment of God and that of the people, and leave Alh Ibrahim Idris and Capt Wada out of their dirty politics.. There is certainly no rift between our leaders.”

The party said it ran disciplined, prudent and accountable tenures in Kogi and that it is unfortunate that the appointed government in the State has lost direction. This they say is no surprise because it was never a product of the people. “Anything built and founded on lies,” the Party disclosed “would not last, little wonder, all the resources that accrued to the state in the last two years, vanished into thin air, with unpaid salaries and pension standing in arrears of 22months.”

The party emphasized that at no time did the former governors gave or received public money to prosecute private agenda. “We demand from the author and platform a retraction of the lies or risk legal action. Our advise to the author as he prepares to settle down in holy matrimony, is that he should not build a home with money paid to smear the reputation of elder statesmen. His pay masters should concentrate on delivering good government and stop making Kogi a laughing stock among other states in Nigeria.”
