The recent ‘arrest’ of some paid boys by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in connection to the murder of Yusuf Adabenega, the custodian of Cementy, a popular singing Masquerade in Ebira land, has been described by analysts as a mockery of Adabenega’s death and Nigerian constitution.

Five boys were recently paraded by Governor Yahaya Bello himself in the Government House in a four minutes video that has since been circulated on social media.

In the four minutes video, the governor’s voice was conspicuously heard interrogating the said Murderers who confessed to the killing of Yusuf Adabenega.

But the question the public and analysts have continued to ask are:

1. Which aspect of Nigerian Constitution empowers Governor Yahaya Bello turn himself to Commissioner of Police, using the Government House to investigate and interrogate Criminals?

2. Where is the state Commissioner of Police who supposed to handle the investigation and make public their findings?

3. Why has the state Police Headquarters refused to make any statement regarding such a sensitive issue the police had earlier promised to bring the perpetrators to book?

4. Who are they?

5. Why were their names and other information not made public?

6. Where are the media that cover the story?

7. Is it that they were paid to confess or arranged?

8. Which Police Station are they now??

This mockery was further demonstrated by the Governor’s minions when they rashly ran to release a dramatic video celebrating how Kabiru Onyene has been vindicated by the paid ‘arrest’.

All these dramas have further justified the rumour of Special Adviser to the Governor on domestic Matters, Hon. Kabiru Onyene and Special Adviser to theĀ  Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abubakar Ohere of their alleged complicity in the murder of late Yusuf Adabenega.

Recalled that Hon. Abdulkarim Umar aka Kasko was earlier arrested by Governor Yahaya Bello in November 2018 in connection to Adabenega’s murder and kept without trial until he was finally released on 3rd April after series of public outcries.

If the state government is actually sincere, why didn’t they give Kasko the same treatment given to the paid boys arrested to claim the murder of Adabenega.
