A youth leader in Kogi State, Julius Olushola Abel has described the choice of Senator Smart Adeyemi as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as a recovery for the suffering, disgrace and embarrassment meted on Kogi West constituents by the misrepresentation of incumbent Senator Dino Melaye.
Adeyemi, a former National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), was announced as the winner of the just concluded APC Kogi West Senatorial primary election having won with 1,659 votes.
Abel, while congratulating Adeyemi after the announcement of the winner of the election which was held in Kabba, said Kogi Westerners are not worthy of a representative like Melaye whose actions and attitudes during an outside plenary is uncivil.
“Melaye is known for lots of attitudes which is unbecoming of a 21st century Senator, both in his public and private life. He is unable to attract Federal Government presence to the district due to his excessive radical approach and use of uncouth languages to the executive in criticism.
“Melaye’s display of buffoonery; dancing and singing on the media over salient issues, is a mockery to the entire country, 8th Senate, Kogites and Kogi Westerners in particular. Apart for putting the entire State in more negative light before the whole world by calling His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello unprintable names during plenary.
“Kogites should not be fooled or deceived that Melaye is fighting or speaking for them, he is only fighting for his selfish interest by making mockery of the prevailing and surmounting challenges in the State,” he said.
He added that on the contrary, Senator Smart Adeyemi is a responsible legislator and advocate who have been tested over time and has been chosen by the APC delegates to correct the anomalies of Melaye.
Abel, while seeking massive support for Sen. Smart Adeyemi from the masses, assured them of a qualitative representation and influence for reasonable and visible Federal Government presence in the District.
He congratulated Smart Adeyemi, all aspirants and the APC family for the peaceful and successful conduct of the election.
He urged all aspirants in the keen contest to keep up the spirit of sportsmanship.
