The Bello Administration: A Government of Oppression, Fraud and Lies

Since Governor Yahaya Bello government came to life in January 2016, it has achieved nothing except the imposition of hardship on Kogites.

Bello has failed so soon in office, with his embezzlement of the bail out and Paris excess refund meant for the payment of salaries and arrears of our pensioners and civil servants. Less than 19 months in office, the Bello government is owing 17 months salaries.

Bello promised the civil servants and pensioners that he will clear all outstanding salaries before March 31, but up till this moment civil servants and pensioners in Kogi State are yet to receive their salaries and arrears. Legitimate workers are now tagged as “ghost workers” by Bello and his crew.

Bello government has proved beyond reasonable doubt that it is a government against the people. This is quite pellucid in the anti-people policies that it has adopted. For instance, in march 2016, this grossly incompetent administration started staff verification exercise: a big scam to embezzle state funds as there is no positive outcome or result up till this moment.

Even after the so called screening, the opinion of many Kogites is that there is more corruption now in the state than before.

Furthermore, Bello in his recent tour to state owned institutions threatened not to pay lecturers who sued his government. A tour where millions of naira was wasted. I don’t even want to mention Kogi State University and Kogi State Polytechnic, as it is no longer news that state owned institutions have been shut down for close to 6 months now.

A government like Bello’s which has declared an open war against its own people has no legitimate right to exist. It is absolutely unnecessary to wait until 2019 to send this felonious government out of power. The administration has established that it has no slightest clue on how to resolve Kogi State’s problems, except to compound them.

In the history of the state, I stand to be corrected, no administration has treated civil servants and pensioners the way Bello is treating them currently.

There is so much hardship and hunger in the state under Bello, even dogs in Kogi State have become so lean under the pains of hunger. This accounts for why Bello’s “New Direction” policy has become a major source of comic relief when one considers his fraudulent policies and his long list of appointments.

A sane government would have been busy trying to alleviate the sufferings and poverty and other related matters, but not Bello’s. He is more interested in recalling the “most popular” senator in Nigeria.

Well, in the event that Kogites decide to wait till 2019 before sending this roguish government away, Bello and his bad direction team must constantly remember that the very whip that landed on Wada’s skin was not thrown into River Niger afterwards.

In the meantime, I have informed my family members, friends and colleagues to come home and collect their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).
