Thanksgiving has been described as not just a reaction triggered by answered prayers, but mostly an action triggered by the joy of knowing who God is.
The Presiding Bishop of Chapel of Freedom International Churches, Lokoja, Dr. John Ibenu stated this during the 2023 annual thanksgiving service of the church in Lokoja on Sunday.
According to him, to engage in thanksgiving is a fight, a deliberate decision to be grateful for all that God has done, even when it seems not enough.
He noted further that it is a deliberate decision to turn your back on the problems that trigger complaints and gaze on God who trigger hope.
He urged people to come for thanksgiving with understanding so that they can get maximum benefits.
Bishop Ibenu, who dedicated Mrs Etubi’s house during the service, said building house prolongs life, praying for people to build as many as they can.
The clergyman explained that God is moved to bless the people and their earthly businesses, ensure endeavours begin to respond with increased output and harvest when they engage in thanksgiving.
Dr Ibenu said God deserves our praise and nothing must be allowed to stop people from giving him thanks to the best of their capacity, urging congregation to arise, fight off pains and disappointments, showing God that they are grateful.
The general overseer who spoke on the topic “Benefits of Thanksgiving”, said thanksgiving brings wholeness and bring open doors stressing that appreciation make your life appreciate urging people to appreciate every progress in them.
He warned that people should not make Christianity so complex but keep it very simple.
According to him, testimony is spiritual, adding that people can triumph by testimony. Quoting from the book of first Samuel chapter one verse twenty six, Bishop Ibenu explained that thanksgiving brings multiplication and increase.
He described offerings in the church as medicine that can stop plague in one’s life and family.
