The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kabba/Bunu chapter has pledged their unflinching support to the the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello and Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole.
The leadership of NUT made this known during a courtesy call on the Speaker at the State Assembly complex, Lokoja.
The combined delegations of the executive members of the union and the staff of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Education Authority office, Kabba paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly to rejoice with and celebrate his emergence as the 12th Speaker of the assembly, making him the first to occupy the exalted position from his constituency.
The NUT Chairman, Comrade Bamidele Orisase assured the Speaker and government of Governor Bello of the unflinching support of the union and teachers in Kabba/Bunu, noting that the Speaker has made them proud.

He however solicited the assistance of the Speaker in ensuring that the cleared teachers who are yet to get their salaries are promptly paid, noting that the people are suffering.
He congratulated the Speaker on his record breaking and historic emergence as the 12th Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, wishing him a successful and peaceful tenure.
He appealed to the Speaker to extend his generosity to members of the Union especially as it relates to his series of empowerment programmes initiatives.
The leader of the staff of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Education office Kabba, Mrs Ikusemoro urged the Speaker to continue his good works of community and human development, she commended the Governor for clearing the rot in the State Civil Service, urging the Honourable Speaker to look into issues of salary discrepancies among various levels and between education staffs from other local government areas.
She prayed to God to grant the Speaker wisdom, knowledge and understanding to perform exceptionally well in his new responsibility.
In his reaction, the Speaker thanked and appreciated the delegation for finding out time to visit him.
He urged them to continue to cooperate and support the current administration in order to reposition the state for the overall benefit of the people, stressing that APC as a party is the way out.
He opined that the staff screening exercise embarked upon by the government was an exercise in the right direction, noting that some civil servants have bastardized the service through various acts of insincerity and indiscipline, hence the urgent need for the exercise.
He noted that the House of Assembly has a lot of regards for the teachers as two of the Honourable Members (Hon. Pedro Obaro and Linus Eneche) are former classroom teachers, and they are constantly advocating for them.
He therefore assured them of continuous support of the House, promising that the union would be carried along in his subsequence empowerment programmes.
He promised to sustain the Secondary School Quiz competition even after his tenure, stressing that the winner of the competition, Comprehensive High School, Oke-Offin Bunu was a surprise considering their location.
The Speaker urged the visitors to compliment the efforts of government by sincerely discharging their duties and enjoined them to support the government of Governor Yahaya Bello with prayers for the successful implementation of the lofty programmes of the new direction administration.
