The President of the Titcombe College Old Students Association (TCEOSA), Engr Steve Olayemi Oluokun has restated his belief in the fact that without teachers in Titcombe College, changing the fortunes of the school will be a daunting task.
He made this statement in his charge to members, while introducing the Teachers Intervention Programme (TIP) at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of TCEOSA which held virtually online via ZOOM, on 15th January 2022.
According to Omoladun Asabe Frank-Baiye, Public Relations Officer (PRO), TCEOSA, highlight of the EGM was the approval of the TCEOSA Teachers Intervention Programme (TIP).
“The goal of the programme is to increase the availability of teachers from a mere 48 percent teachers to 100 percent to improve the academic performance of the school, thereby restoring the lost glory,” she said, adding “In the immediate, 18 more teachers are needed, at an annual cost of N7.56million, to bring the number of teachers to a reasonable level, needed to teach the 768 students currently enrolled in the school”.
The TCEOSA spokesperson further disclosed that “the TIP reckons that with an estimated Alumni population of 40 sets, with an average of 50 members per set, the costs can easily be offset with each set providing just N189,000 Annually, or each member providing N3,780 per Annum. All these are already worked into the Set Dues also approved at the EGM.
“In order to underscore his commitment and also jumpstart this process, the President has donated the sum of One Million Naira (N1m) to the TCEOSA Teacher’s Intervention Fund (TIF), which was established to fund the activities of the TIP, pending the time subventions will start coming from the sets as outlined.
“Well-meaning Titcombians and other stakeholders are also invited to contribute to the Teachers Intervention Fund, which has a dedicated Bank Account and administrative process.”
