The Media Adviser to the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Kogi state chapter, Alhaji Abubakar Sule Hussain has said the decision taking by the Kogi State House of Assembly was against the rules of fair hearing and due process of law.

In a statement signed and made available to media men, the media adviser described the action of the lawmakers as total violation of fundamental concepts of justice and equality, which accentuates the rules of fair hearing, adding that for any charge against anybody, the accused must be given an opportunity to defend himself as moved by member representing Okehi constituency, Honourable Sani Kekere which was rejected by the members.

The statement read in part, “It is the principle of the civilized jurisprudence that a person facing charges must be given an opportunity to be heard before any decision is taking against such person”.
