SURE-P: Kogi Inaugurates 20-Man Committee

As an intervention measure aimed at mitigating the hardship faced by indigenes of Kogi State, following the removal of the fuel subsidy regime, Kogi State Government has inaugurated a Committee on Subsidy Re – investment and Empowerment Programme, with a charge on the Committee to protect the people’s welfare.

Inaugurating the 20 man Committee, Capt. Idris Wada, tasked the members to work towards the benefits of the people.

Represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi said the Committee is to among others; liaise with relevant Federal Agencies, approve annual work plans, as well as monitor and evaluate funded projects to ensure faithful utilisation and adherence of the funds and programmes.

Wada, urged the Committee to maintain good communication with the populace on the activities of the programme.
He also appealed to the members to measure their performance and accomplishments in creating a social safety nets for the people and not to prevent their benefits.

Capt. Idris Wada, who used the inauguration to register the displeasure of the State Government with the arbitrary and exploitative pricing of petroleum products in the state, say enforcement of approved prices will commence soon.

He appealed to the marketers to operate their businesses with a human face, as Government is working towards addressing the issues of poor supply from the NNPC.

In their acceptance speech, John Alabi, who spoke on behalf of the Committee promised that the members will offer selfless, sincere and transparent service.
He thanked the State Government for the opportunity given them to serve.
