The Kogi State Chairman, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, (PSN) Dr. Lawal Muhammed Omuya has congratulated Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, on his victory at the Supreme Court judgment, affirming him as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State in the November 2023 governorship election.

Dr Omuya disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Friday.

The Pharmacist noted that the verdict of the supreme court affirming Governor Ododo’s victory was never a surprise to the people of Kogi State stressing that the present administration has within seven months impacted greatly in the State and her people.

Dr Omuya commended the judiciary for it’s resilience in deepening Nigeria’s democracy through sound judgments, just as he expressed hope that the verdict would put an end to the unnecessary bickering, distractions, and provocations that followed the 2023 Kogi Governorship election.

He urged aggrieved individuals in the State to shelve their swords and work with Governor Ododo to move Kogi State forward.

Dr Omuya pleaded with the Governor to run a government of reconciliation to reduce the high level of acrimony in the State.

He said, “With the Supreme Court verdict of Friday, August 23rd, 2024 reaffirming Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State, the long season of high-level politics in Kogi State has come to an end.

“I therefore heartily congratulate and rejoice with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Deputy Governor, Salisu Oyibo for this laudable victory.

“However, all eyes in the country are on our performing Governor to put in place structures for purposeful leadership in Kogi State having regard to the high performance of his predecessor, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, in such areas as health, educational development infrastructural development and pursuing Kogi interest.

“You should therefore put in all measures in improving on his performance. Not-the-least, the issues that relate to citizens’ wellbeing such as Healthcare, Education, Job Creation, Payment of Pensions and Gratuity which you have been doing since you assumed office in January should be sustained”.
