A social crusader,Comrade Austin Usman Okai has admonished kogi state government to focus more on returning students at all levels back to school, stop forthwith the mass sack in the civil service, pay bonafide workers their entitlements ‎and provide social safety nets as against providing unnecessary succour to were it is not required.
He made this observation in a statement issued in Abuja against the backdrop of mass procurement of vehicles and equipment to security agencies and the vigilante group around the state ‎to address challenges, saying the idea will not reduce crime and a misplaced priority.

Okai opined that in a state were the chief of staff to the governor confirmed owing civil servants 12 months as against 15 months salary arrears is quite sad and unthinkable hence bringing untold hardship to the state workers.
According to the social crusader, it will be wiser for students of tertiary institutions at all levels to return to school five m‎onths after closure by paying the lecturers and other staffs of the institutions.
Comrade Okai restated the commitment of the people to a robust and egalitarian society were justice, equality and rights of people are not trampled, saying the issue of security concerns is not out place, but it will be counter productive to ignore the indices rightly observed as the entitlements of both workers and the citizens ‎are sacrosanct. ‎
He raised serious concerns on the inhumane attitude to governance which has relegated to the background the provision of infrastructure development and social safety nets to the people of the state predominantly youths.
“It is laughable for governance built on insincerity and deceit,by embarking on re- award and flagging of on going road projects with contractors not mobilised to site.
“How can you can flag off a project without mobilisation and as soon as the ceremony is carried out, the contractors will move back their equipment just like it happened on Kabba, Okene, Ibaji and Idah roads?”
Comrade Okai said the only avenue to ‎return the state to the path of glory is to ensure social justice, stop indiscriminate sacking of civil servants, put an end to endless screening, pay workers as at when due and ensure youths are gainfully employed using series of media fora.
