With just few simple tools and fresh coconuts, you can have pure, cold pressed oil in no time.
The tools needed include; coconut grater or food processor, cheesecloth or a clean cotton cloth, large pot or saucepan, oil extractor or manual press (optional) and fresh coconuts.
Grate the coconut meat using a coconut grater or food processor. You can also use a blender to shred the coconut into fine pieces.
Spread the grated coconut on a baking sheet and dry it in the sun or using a low temperature oven (150°c) for 2-3 hours.
This step is very important to remove excess moisture.place the dried coconut in a large pot or saucepan and add a small amounts of water.
Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally until the oil separates from the coconut solids. Strain the oil through cheesecloth or clean cotton into a clean container. Discard the coconut solids and repeat the process until you get the desired amount of oil.
