Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has assured members and supporters of the ruling All progressives Congress (APC) that the State Congress scheduled for Saturday will be free, fair and credible.
Addressing the stakeholders of the party ahead of the state congress holding at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium, Gov. Bello announced that a new executive position has been created to accommodate persons living with disabilities in the State. In an agreed zoning arrangement, the new position for physically challenged citizens was zoned to Ibaji local government.
Gov. Bello said the party would conduct the state congress according to the existing zoning arrangement in the state. He said the state chairman of the party would come from Adavi local government area in the central senatorial district while the party secretary would come from Olamaboro local government area in the eastern senatorial district.
He said the leadership and members of the party had met and agreed to the arrangement without any dissenting voice.
He assured the State Congress committee led by Alhaji Mamman Ali, that the state was ready for a hitch-free exercise that would usher in the new executive of the party.
He said his administration since inception had been working assiduously to ensure that Kogi is free of violence and secured for the residents and travellers.
The committee chairman, however, told the gathering that the committee was ready to conduct a fair and transparent congress in the state.
He explained that only those that purchase forms for the various contestable offices would be allowed to contest during the Congress.
