The Chief Administrator of Lokoja Local Government Area, Hon Shiru Lawal, has restated the commitment of his administration to the sustenance of peace and development in communities in Lokoja Local government area.
Shiru made the pledge recently while speaking with this reporter on the development he had brought to the Local government area since his administration came on board.
The council boss also commended the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for setting the agenda of New Direction policy.
He expressed the commitment of his administration to the building of infrastructures, disclosing that his government had embarked on the provision of boreholes across some traditional wards as part of his administration’s efforts to cushion the perennial water scarcity,provision of scholarship to indigents students and construction of drainages and channelisation among others
The administrator who was at Sarkin Noma, in ward E, to inspect the ongoing drilling of borehole project in the area said; “we are here in continuation of our earlier promised to our people that this administration is determined to take development to the doorsteps of our people despite the financial position of the Local Government”
Speaking in an interview earlier with this reporter, a community leader, Alhaji Hassan Salihu, commended the administrator, describing him as a leader with foresight.
“This project would solve the problems of water scarcity in this area which has become a growing concerns for over a decades, I want to use this medium to call on Shiru to declare his intentions to contest for the council chairmanship so that it’ll avail him the opportunity to complete the good works he started”, he said.
Also speaking, the All Progressive Congress, APC, Chairman in ward B, Hon Ya’u Umar, said the sunking of borehole in the area would not only alleviate the sufferings of the people, but will go along way is saving many households from water vendors.
“I spent N1,500 everyday in buying water from ‘mai ruwa’,with the provision of a motorize borehole in this strategic place a lot of money would now be save and channels to solve other problems “
It could be recall that already three boreholes were completed by Shiru led administration and are currently awaiting commissioning, they include wards B and C and Obajana in Oworo wards, while the Sarkin Noma project is ongoing and is expected to be completed in few days to come.
