Seven persons are feared dead and four others injured in yesterday’s accident in Osara, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
An eyewitness, Mohammed Imgiyaaz, said the victims were returning from Lokoja Market.
He said: “There is a popular driver called Egbunu, known for travelling with different vehicles. He removed the back seat of the bus and put food items, belonging to passengers, there. He sat at the driver’s seat with two others in the front, while the back seat was occupied by four others. The remaining seat was loaded with food stuff.
“A truck coming behind pushed the bus into the bush, and it tumbled several times. All the seven passengers died instantly.”
The truck driver, it was gathered, escaped for fear of being lynched.
Head of Operation, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Suleiman Mohammed said information available to the command shows that five people died, while four were injured.
He said family of the victims have been contacted.
