Senators Wives Association’s Visit to Women Affairs Minister a Needed Synergy for National Growth

The recent visit of the Senators’ Wives Association, led by its chairperson, Barr (Dr) Halima Kabir Gaya, to the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen is indeed a welcome development. The courtesy call on one of their own for the wonderful manner she has handled the Ministry and her introduction of policies and programmes to enhance the overall developments of women in all its ramifications in the country.

The visit is therefore important in many ways especially now that every hand needs to be on deck to confront frontally the many challenges being faced by the women in the country. So, it is important to point out that, this visit is important just as it is explorative.

The members of the senators wives association of the 9th senate have eminently stood to be counted because as wives to the senators, the influence they have on their husbands cannot be overemphasized.

During the visit, the wives of the senators used the occasion to also appreciate and praise the wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari from not shying away from supporting her husband the President, General Mohammadu Buhari. They are particularly proud that she also do not shy away from being the number one critic of his administration when things do not go right and this her singular action has greatly shown that the Nigerian women are truly the embodiment of truth and peace.

They during the visit, they also extolled the leadership qualities of the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan for the prompt attention paid to bills and motion that placed greater emphases to the upliftment of children and women developments.

They specifically lauded Senate President Lawan for having the courage and mettle in condemning outrightly the happenings in the country, especially in respect to insecurity, ASUU strike and all other social vices and menace bedevilling the country today.

This visit is important in many respects especially as it has the urge to grease the elbow of the honourable Minister of Women Affairs to do more for women in the country.

The robust style of administration of the Minister was also extolled by the wives of the senators and for her unflinching support for the womenfolk especially during the period of the ravaging COVID-19 scourge. Her unflinching supports also for the women by speaking for the women of Nigeria and the encouragement that the Minister and particularly the present administration offers to the cause of the women. They have therefore come for the purpose of appreciation and to express moving forward their unalloyed loyalty and supports to the Minister to ensure that the mandate given to her by the president is achieved.

The visit also was to admonish the Minister and the rest of her team to ensure that all enemies of the Nigerian state are wiped out with the firepower of our gallant military. This message was sent to the President through the minister. They paid tribute to the fallen soldiers who gallantly paid the supreme price to keep Nigerians safe and pray that may their soul rest in perfect peace.

Also, during the visit, they proposed to have a prayer session at the senate chambers beginning with a walk from the gate of the National Assembly chambers of the senate and with the permission of the presiding officer and chairman of the National Assembly, the President of the senate. They used the opportunity of the visit to invite the Minister to the events.
